Detailed description
The project ”Åben Skrivestøtte” are in the process of developing an integration layer between the commercial product “Skrivestøtte” and OpenOffice. The project is due to terminate shortly after the final release of OpenOffce 3 has been published. The project will release an integration layer for both OpenOffice 2.4 and OpenOffice 3.
The commercial product “Skrivestøtte” enables you to have any eletronic text read aloud. It also provides word-prediction thereby helping you to spell. “Skrivestøtte” is primarily used in the following situations:
=> when teaching the early grades how to write properly,
=> supporting pupils with reading and writing disabilities with an it-backpack containing a laptop with specific software including “Skrivestøtte”.
At present “Skrivestøtte” is delivered by SecondGuess ApS only with integration to Microsoft Office. SecondGuess ApS has been involved in the project, and in the future SecondGuess ApS will also deliver “Skrivestøtte” with integration to OpenOffice.
”Åben Skrivestøtte” is based on OpenOffice’s standard interface called UNO. That means, that all the components developed to ”Åben Skrivestøtte” can be reused when developing future inegrations covering similar pedagogical or technical needs.
